The Beacon Project

A new digital offering from the Academy, consisting of three new performance films of Nightscape by Eleanor Alberga, Partita by Sally Beamish, and Concerto Grosso by Errollyn Wallen. Filmed in the atmospheric surroundings of St John’s, Smith Square and Henry Wood Hall the performance films showcase the musicians of the Academy, from string octet, to 13-part wind ensemble through to small-scale chamber orchestra. Conductor John Butt leads the orchestra in Wallen’s Concerto Grosso, and composer Eleanor Alberga conducts her own work.

The performance films are available on the Academy’s Facebook page  and YouTube channel:

Alongside these performance films is a suite of Free Key Stage 1 materials: short videos exploring the three works and crammed full with fun, interactive activities are accompanied by written resources, devised and presented by Lucy Drever, a presenter, workshop leader and narrator who is also Head of Musicianship at the Benedetti Foundation. You can access the KS1 materials below.
