Help Us Bring Performances Back!

Support our Digital Campaign!

What did you do during the 2020 lockdown? Did you master tai-chi, apply for the next round of Masterchef or memorise the Oxford Companion to Classical Literature? Or… did you become part of the world’s finest chamber orchestra’s future? If you think your rusty vibrato or retired embouchure rule you out, then think again – and read on!

The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is one of the world’s most widely recorded ensembles but, in a strange quirk of fate, we have little audio-visual footage available for today’s digital consumer. This year, suddenly prevented from performing and touring, we have had limited ways in which to reach our loyal audiences and supporters.

Hard as this lockdown has been for arts organisations, it has been brutal for the musicians on whom we depend, the people who are the Academy. Unable to perform, our musicians – the finest in their field – have lost both their livelihoods and their artistic voice.

We want to reunite our musicians and audiences. With concert halls remaining closed for the foreseeable future, we aim to raise £100,000 by September 2020 to fund the streaming of some recent, previously un-broadcast performances, and to enable us to record and release a series of new films of the Academy, as soon as the lockdown is eased.

We are delighted that, thanks to the generosity of some key donors, trusts and corporate supporters, we have already secured £85,000 of this target. However, with streamed broadcasts underway and recording sessions planned for August, we urgently need your help to raise the remaining £15,000 of our target.
