Support our Digital Campaign!
The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is one of the world’s most widely recorded ensembles but, in a strange quirk of fate, we have little audio-visual footage available for today’s digital consumer. This year, suddenly prevented from performing and touring, we had limited ways in which to reach our loyal audiences and supporters.
However, with thanks to the generosity of key donors, trusts and corporate supporters, we successfully raised £100,000 earlier this year to create and broadcast a series of online performances. We hope that you have enjoyed some of those broadcasts: we’re delighted to have been able to provide much-needed work for our artists, whose lives continue to be so dramatically impacted by ongoing restrictions, whilst also expanding our library of audio-visual recordings.
Difficult as this lockdown has been for arts organisations, it has been brutal for the musicians on whom we depend, the people who are the Academy.
With ongoing restrictions, our aim now is to raise a further £100,000 to fund a second year of digital activity in 2021.
We kickstarted the second phase of our Digital Campaign by taking part in this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are delighted to announce that we successfully exceeded our target: raising £30,000 to fund new studio recordings and a major new audio-visual recording with the orchestra and Academy Music Director, Joshua Bell in 2021. Over the coming months we will be continuing to raise the remaining necessary funds for this exciting project and any support would be much appreciated.
