Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings in C major, Op. 48
The Academy’s superb string players return to Asia with our Music Director Joshua Bell for concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei and Seoul. The programmes feature an eclectic collection of wonderful music, with Joshua Bell featuring as soloist in spirited concertos by Bach and Vivaldi – pieces which also feature the Academy’s distinguished Principal Harpsichord John Constable – as well as Piazzolla’s virtuosic Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, which never fails to delight. The tour also offers the chance to see Joshua Bell direct the Academy, from the leader’s chair, through the luscious harmonies of Barber and Tchaikovsky.
