The Academy of St Martin in the Fields join Music Director Joshua Bell for a concert at London’s Cadogan Hall as the finale to their tour across Europe with a programme including Kevin Puts’ extraordinary Earth – a contribution to Joshua’s ‘Elements’ project, consisting of five new commissions shaped around water, air, fire, space and earth. Shaped around a four-note ostinato and the lyrical phrases that are traded between the violin and orchestra, Puts’ work is an example of the stability and endurance of this element, as well as acting as a reverent tribute to the planet Earth.

The programme will also feature performances of Brahms’ magnificent Violin Concerto in D major and Schumann’s vibrant, energetic and joyful ‘Spring’ Symphony No. 1 – both directed by Joshua from the violin.

This concert is kindly supported by ASMF Music Director’s Circle.

The position of the Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields is generously supported by the Berry Charitable Foundation.
