A heartfelt wish of prize-winner-in-residence Martynas Levickis comes true with the first of two Academy concerts, when he shares the stage with the probably best-known mandolin player of our time, Avi Avital, in the excellent acoustics of the Neubrandenburg concert church. The multifaceted programme draws a bow from the baroque sounds of Bach to the modern with Galliano’s accordion concerto, and combines both worlds in the composition of the contemporary composer Michael Tippett on a theme of the baroque master Corelli.
