We return to the USA with superstar mandolinist Avi Avital.
Avi Avital is the first mandolin soloist to be nominated for a classical Grammy. Passionate and “explosively charismatic” (New York Times) in live performance, Avi has been compared to Segovia for his championship of his instrument and to Heifitz for his incredible virtuosity. He is a driving force behind the reinvigoration of the mandolin repertory.
PROGRAMME
Tippett: Fantasia Concertante on a Theme of Corelli
Dorman: Concerto for Mandolin and Strings
Bach: Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, BMV 1041 (arrangement for mandolin by Avital)
