OVERVIEW
We’re delighted to return to the world’s greatest classical music festival for an afternoon concert directed by our Music Director Joshua Bell.
The programme includes Mendelssohn’s charming A Midsummer Night’s Dream overture and Beethoven’s graceful Fourth Symphony, as well as Frank Bridge’s poignant Lament (for Catherine, aged 9 “Lusitania” 1915) – an elegy for those who died following the torpedoing of the RMS Lusitania, and a work not heard at the BBC Proms since its world premiere in 1915. Our Music Director stars as soloist in Saint-Saëns’ lyrical and virtuosic Third Violin Concerto.
