An evening of music for string quartet and quintet. Starting with Haydn’s String Quartet in D Major Op 64 no 5 “The Lark”, the soaring violin melody in the first movement harking the first coming moments of Spring, followed by Shaw’s Entr’acte, written in 2011 after hearing Haydn’s String Quartet in F Major Op. 77 No. 2. The quartet perform a new arrangement of Amy Beach’s Dreaming with solo cellist Judith Herbert, performed here for the first time, finishing with Schubert’s rich and sublime Quintet in C Major.
This concert, falling on the Friday before Mothering Sunday, is the second in a series of concerts organised by ASMF Viola Player Fiona Bonds for her Marriner Project.
Our Marriner Projects are a new series of initiatives putting financial and administrative support behind the ideas of our musicians.
