Together with Music Director Joshua Bell, the world-famous Academy of St Martin in the Fields performs a glittering evening showcasing Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1 and Brahms’ Fourth Symphony at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
With over 500 releases in a much-vaunted discography and one of the busiest international touring diaries of any UK orchestra, the name and sound of the Academy is known and loved by classical audiences across the globe.
Bell takes centre stage in Paganini’s show-stopping Violin Concerto No. 1, which Bell performed for the first time since he was 16 with the Academy on tour to the USA in 2020, complete with a cadenza by Bell himself.
The programme concludes with Brahms’ Fourth Symphony, offering the chance to hear the Academy shine in this monumental work of powerful intensity, emotion, and beauty. “The Fourth Symphony is a marvel… on the surface, you just appreciate it as being a beautiful piece of music, but as you dig deep you see the complexity and the dissonances that are built in.” Joshua Bell 2020
