Regarded as one of the greatest classical trumpeters of our time and a pioneer of new music for the instrument, Håkan Hardenberger shows off a different side to his playing and the instrument in some of the “greatest melodies ever written”. Ken Sillito leads the Academy in these lush, romantic arrangements by pianist Roland Pöntinen of Hardenberger’s favourite songs and film themes, recorded at St John’s Smith Square in June 2011.
