playing that is both crisp and alert

Tchaikovsky symphonies are the focal point of this Capriccio collection, The London Recordings, performed by the Academy under the baton of our founder Sir Neville Marriner between 1990-1995. Also included in the 14-CD box set are Antonín Dvořák’s Symphonies 7–9, Edward Elgar’s Wand of Youth Suites, and wonderful music by Jules Massenet, Felix Mendelssohn and Henry Purcell. Soloists featured are Jochen Kowlaski (alto) and Reinhold Friedrich (trumpet).

“The members of the Academy, trained on quite different repertory, let their hair down in playing that is both crisp and alert, obviously enjoying their outing into this pop repertory” – Edward Greenfield, Gramophone

The box set is available to order now via Presto Classical.
