OVERVIEW
The Academy and Music Director Joshua Bell return to the beautiful Colorado mountains for a second year as resident orchestra at Bravo! Vail and we are delighted to have the honour of opening the Festival once again. In the first of three residency programmes, Joshua and the Academy give the world premiere of a new commission written by American composer and bassist Edgar Meyer; in the second, Joshua is joined by good friend and long-time collaborator Steven Isserlis to perform Brahms’ brilliant Double Concerto, which they recorded together with the Academy in 2016 for For the Love of Brahms; and the final concert presents highlights of the strings-only repertoire for which the Academy is renowned, including Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for strings.
