OVERVIEW
Since 1998 the Academy has been working to empower homeless and vulnerable adults through music-making. Our musicians work with participants from West London Mission Seymour Place over six months each year in a sustained programme of music-making: a series of informal improvisation, composition and creative workshops with the aim of increasing the self-confidence and musicianship of the adults involved.
Join our group from the WLM Seymour Place on 26 February at the Sheldon Square Amphitheatre for a lunchtime showcase of their recent compositions: Identity, created through an exploration of individual identities, and Sonic 24, which uses the shifting soundscape of London over a 24-hour period – from birdsong, to lorries, cranes, coffee machines, printers, trains, and sirens – to create a musical representation of the city.
